Challenge
CM Hammar has long been a customer of Skapa’s system development services. Skapa has developed several digital solutions for Hammar – including its MarCode system and app – and was asked to improve the company’s website as well. At the time, Hammar’s website did not adequately reflect the company’s know-how, width and product range. Their remote release systems (which for example help release lifeboats in the event of an emergency), is one of the company’s key products, yet was not shown or promoted clearly enough.
Solution
The design for the new website, as proposed by Skapa, was crisp, intuitive, and much more in line with the company’s expertise and product range. Among the key ingredients were clean graphics, a clearer menu system, and background videos that showed Hammar’s products and solutions in action. The blue color scheme reinforces Hammar’s strong connection to marine operations, and its commitment to safety at sea. Concise content texts provide the site’s visitors with quick information, which is elaborated on in modal windows and embedded videos.
Skapa also made a product catalog where Hammar’s entire product range (including life jackets and other retail categories) became easy to browse and filter. A testimonial video featuring well-known yachtsman Mikael Ryking was also added to the new website. In the video, he speaks to the benefits of Hammar’s life jacket inflators. A highly valuable customer review; the kind that is just as helpful for a B2B company as it would be in a B2C context.
Result
Hammar bought the website solution suggested by Skapa, expressing particular appreciation for how their products and solutions were presented; clearer, and in a much more sales-oriented way than before. Hammar’s new website displays the company’s marine focus and history, and its expertise and width within the field of marine safety solutions. The product range is more clearly categorized and presented, facilitating both sales and inventory oversight.
