Bauma in Munich attracts about 500,000 visitors during its one week in April every third year.
Bauma is the world’s leading trade fair for construction, building material, mining machines, construction vehicles, and construction equipment.
It was interesting visiting this hotspot of international trade just a few days after President Trump had announced the extensive trade tariffs on his Liberation Day. The exhibition ground buzzed with different languages from all over the world. People were discussing and doing business just as on all major exhibitions that I visit, as if nothing had changed.
It is an amazing exhibition to visit - there is a lot of ground to cover. I had a list of companies I wanted to visit. It turned out I walked 19,000 steps in my pursuit of many productive meetings.
Caterpillar and Liebherr had huge booths. Liebherr had an outdoor exhibition area of maybe 100x200 m, including a four-story building erected only for this exhibition. Caterpillar had their own exhibition hall with massive amounts of equipment and a large restaurant.

Volvo Group’s booth, even though large, was smaller than both Caterpillar's and Liebherr’s booths. But what really stood out in the Volvo booth was that all the machines that were exhibited were fully electrified. Electric excavators, electric trucks, electric energy storage units, etc. Everything was electric, and no diesel engine in sight.

Our customer, Volvo Penta, had selected to have their own booth. They showcased their BESS product for energy storage and quick charging of machines, for example, on a construction site. They also had a cool virtual reality presentation of their productivity solutions.
If you have the opportunity to visit Bauma in 2028, I can highly recommend it.
